Updated Website and Additional News

Hello!

There have been a few changes recently. First, this blog was originally located at www.theresaseanchai.wordpress.com. It has since been relocated here, to my author website. As far as reader experience, I do not believe there will be any noticeable difference on that front, but I did want to mention it in case the change causes confusion.

Second, I have redesigned and streamlined my website to (hopefully) give it a cleaner look and make things easier to locate. I believe this will certainly make things go a bit smoother once I actually start publishing.

My final bit of news is that I decided to change careers to full-time author. At this point, I am still trying to find the right schedule to accomplish writing, revising, and all the other things that come with the territory of producing a book. In addition to that, I have also been reading about as much as I can for how to start a publishing company. While I have known for a while that I want to self-publish, there seem to be quite a few benefits to setting up a publishing company to self-publish through… and who knows where things might lead further down the line.

As for a general update on where things stand, I’m planning to do weekly updates here. At the moment my plan seems to be:

– Writing update: I’m currently about 60% of the way through the first draft of book 8, and I’m planning to write about 12,500 words per week (or 2,500 words per day, 5 days a week).

– Reading update: Ideally, I will be reading about a book a week… That said, given the highly variable lengths of books, I’m leaning toward a more open goal of reading more. I most recently finished Battle Ground, the latest book of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

– Steps toward publishing update: Currently, I am about halfway through the latest round of edits on Book 1, with the plan to give the book to my first-round beta readers upon completion of edits. I am also looking up assorted aspects with regard to creating a publishing company so I will be ready when the time comes. Part of the task with that seems to be locating the right professionals who can help with that (including people like a lawyer, an accountant, etc) to make sure I go about this in the right way.

I think that is about all I have as far as current news to share. Feel free to take a look at the site, and feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks for reading,

~ Theresa
