Welcome to the second part of my Early Huevember series.

The official Huevember Challenge for 2022 is quickly approaching (1 Nov). This attempt was made from mid-September to mid-October. I had a blast, and it was nice to be able to try this without also having to worry about doing both Huevember and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) at the same time. As it is, plan to attempt both anyway. Now, the art!
Overview
This set of paintings turned out fairly well, if a bit different that I originally intended (in some cases). I actually had the idea for several of these come to be earlier in the challenge just based on the color or some other aspect. That just left figuring out the actual execution. Overall, I had fun trying out some new techniques and just seeing what happened.
Days 19 to 24

Day 19: “Snowflakes on the Wind”
This light blue color made me think of snowflakes, and I had been wanting to try out the ‘snowflake’ tool on Krita. It took a little bit to figure out how to get the look I was going for, but once I did, I had a lot of fun with this. If nothing else, it was a bit different from other stuff I had been doing. I also thought the dark clouds and the snow banks far below would make an interesting backdrop to the close-up snowflake.
Day 20: “Out among the Stars”
One of the ideas I had been toying with for most of this challenge was doing an outer space scene. I figured somewhere in the blues would be useful. I definitely tried to make the planet not Earth, though there are a few similarities (including an island that is somewhat reminiscent of Madagascar). The cosmic clouds seemed like a nice balance to the clouds on the planet, and the ringed planet in the distance just seemed kind of spiffy.
Day 21: “Everyone Stay Together”
There have been a few occasions during this challenge where I have used the favorite animal of assorted people I know as inspiration for a painting. This one happened to be elephants, and a train of elephants seemed sufficiently cute.
Day 22: “I Know I Left It around Here Somewhere”
While the idea of doing a manatee came to me about a week before I actually painted this, The title for this painting actually took a little while to come up with. That said, it does seem to fit the expression on the manatee rather nicely. Beyond that, I feel like manatees deserve a bit of appreciation. I’ve always thought they were pretty spiffy.
Day 23: “After All that Hard Work…”
So, for this one, I wasn’t sure what to do when I started it. I kind of figured a tiled background of some sort, and then some kind of image in front of it. However, when I finished the background, nothing was really coming to me for what else to do. Not wanting to leave it plain, I figured some cat paw prints tracking over the painting would be a funny addition. It also gave me the idea for the title.
Day 24: “Pendant of Jade”
This painting I kind of knew about before hand. I knew I wanted to do something with jade, and I figured this green would be as good a time as any. I tried to do a few new techniques for this painting between the background and the pendant itself. I also got to apply some of the effects I had learned earlier this challenge, so overall, I am pleased.
Final Thoughts
In this fourth section of the challenge, I found somethings coming to me a little easier. At the same time, I had some moments where I just couldn’t come up with an idea that fit what I originally intended to do. However, that did give me the opportunity to just do something silly because I could. Not everything needs to be some great work of art… particularly when I am limiting myself not only to a single hue but also to an hour or two. I’m currently working on pacing myself (with regard to both time and energy) to be able to work on all of my assorted projects, and this challenge has definitely helped me figure out a thing or two. All in all, I am pleased with how these paintings turned out.
