Update: Week of 24 Oct 2022

Hello, everyone! It’s hard to believe October is almost over.

If you are interested in seeing my recent posts about my early/impromptu Huevember attempt, they can be found at:

There are two more posts that should be up in the next few days.

So, about one week remains until the start of NaNoWriMo on 1 Nov. My current book is progressing nicely. In addition to that, I actually read a good bit this week. I’ve also been making some progress with my Irish lessons.

I’ve continued drafting Book 11. This week I actually finished a chapter that had been taking quite a while to write. I’m thinking the next little while should go a bit smoother. Since NaNoWriMo is coming up, I’ve been trying to take care of some preparations for that. I’m thinking I should be able to get a good dent in the story over this next week, which should leave me in a pretty good position to complete this book during NaNo. The other part of what I’ve been trying to do is figure out some of the broad strokes for the final book of my series, Book 12. I know roughly where it’s going, and I have an idea of how it ends, but that still leaves a lot that I need to try to pin down.

In last week’s update, I mentioned that I’ve been reading Sarah Lin’s Soulhome. I have set that book aside for now. I’m about a third of the way through, but I have been having trouble getting into the story. The fact that the main character is rather cynical toward everything doesn’t help, and it sounds like that doesn’t change anytime soon, from some of the reviews I read of the rest of the series. However, since I did want to give the LitRPG genre a shot, I looked up a list, and I read the first two books of the Fair Quest series by Kit Falbo. The first book is The Crafting of Chess. The second book is The Rise of Chess. Overall, they were good reads. I’m curious to see where the trilogy is going to go. (The third book isn’t out yet.)

With regard to my “100 Day Gaeilge Challenge,” I am making progress. I’m on day 83, so I’m definitely getting close. While I don’t think I’ve progressed overly far, it is nice to have gotten back into something of a habit. I tend to go through periods where I’m pretty good about working on learning languages. Then there are periods where I’m not. I do always come back to it eventually. I’m hoping this time continues for a good while yet.

This upcoming week, is likely to be busy. I plan to draft as much of Book 11 as I can before NaNo starts. I also want to work on the outline/timeline for Book 12 since I intend to start that one next month. I’m not sure what I will be reading this week, though I do have a few in-progress books that I will likely choose from. Other than that, I’m planning to post the final two Early Huevember posts this week (in preparation of Huevember proper starting next week).

I think that’s everything for now! Thanks for reading!
